On August 1st Perry County Health Department participated in the 1st Annual Night Out celebration held at the Pinckneyville City Park.
The Department joined forces with thousands of communities nationwide in the celebration against crime and drugs. National Night Out involves over 9,000 communities
from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 30 million people each year participate in 'America's Night
Out Against Crime'. The event featured local police, firefighters, emergency personnel, and local officials and was sponsored by several local businesses. The Department
handed out health and emergency information as well as signed up volunteers for our Community Heroes program. |
The spring collection for Household Hazardous Waste runs through April

In response to the recent outbreak of mumps cases in Iowa among late adolescents
and young adults, local health departments in Southern Illinois would like to
inform parents and the public about what mumps is and what to do if someone suspects
that they or a child might have mumps.

On Feb 17th the Perry County Health Department sponsored a Women's Heart Health
Day at the American Legion. Approximately one hundred and fifty county residents
enjoyed the event. Many enjoyed a seated massage from Kay's Massage & Wellness
Center, while others browsed around numerous exhibts on health related topics.
