Obtain a Death Certificate

Death certificates can be obtained only from a family member of the deceased.

Geneology can be viewed and obtained at the County Clerk's Office.

Fees

Death certificates are $12.00 ($10 PCHD fee + $2 EDC fee*) for the first copy and $4.00 ($2 PCHD fee + $2 EDC fee*) for each copy thereafter.


* EDC(Electronic Death Certificate) is a registration fee paid to Illinois Department of Public Health that allows you to view or obtain this information electronically in the future. This fee is not optional.
